Join Yu Hua and writer Agustinus Wibowo in conversation about stories of the Chinese experience, both personal and historical. Yu Hua needs no introduction: from early works such as To Live, to the more recent blockbuster Brothers, he is among China’s foremost portraitists of modern Chinese society. Wibowo is an Indonesian translator and author of Chinese descent: his translation of Yu Hua’s To Live is already published in Indonesia, and Brothers and Chronicle of a Blood Merchant are forthcoming. At a young age he ventured to China in search of his roots and, finding China not at all as he’d imagined it, embarked on a ten-year journey through the world, which is the subject of his new book, Zero: When the Journey Takes You Home. Yu Hua and Wibowo discuss their authorial relationship, the similarities between China’s recent history and the history of the Chinese in Indonesia, and the role of the individual in historical narrative.

余 华与作家翁鸿鸣将讨论华人的历史故事与个体故事。余华，不需赘言，从早期的《活着》，到08年力作《兄弟》，他是刻画当代中国社会的先锋作家。翁鸿鸣是印 尼译者，华裔作家。他曾翻译余华的《活着》，已经在印度尼西亚出版。其他即将出版的译作有《兄弟》及《许三观卖血记》。翁鸿鸣年轻时离开全家人来到中国寻 根，却发现中国与他的想象完全不同，他因此开始了长达10年的世界旅行。他的新书《零点：走向回归的远行》即以这次旅行为主题。余华和翁鸿鸣将探讨他们的 作家身份，中国现代历史与印尼华人历史间的相似之处，以及在历史性叙述之中个人所扮演的角色。

Agustinus Wibowo (翁鸿鸣)
华裔印度尼西亚旅行作家、摄影师，成长于印尼东爪哇省，曾居住于中国。自我身份问题在他早年的生活中一直萦绕在他心头，使他形成了看世界的独特视 角。他的旅行横跨大陆，途经喜马拉雅、中亚共和国边界地区和阿富汗的大街小巷。他的第一部作品《尘埃之毯：行走阿富汗》记录了他看到的被战争肆虐的阿富 汗。《尘埃之毯》面世后，成为畅销书，并被认为是他的代表作。他的第二部作品《分界线：行走中亚》，对“边界”进行了全新的思考。他的第三部作品《零点： 走向回归的远行》开创了印尼游记文学的新种类，让读者在思索自身矛盾和 身份问题的同时，也可以阅读作者的旅行，感受作者的心灵之旅。
翁鸿鸣现在生活在马来群岛，正在撰写一部以民族主义为主题的非虚构作品。

［中 国］余华 （Yu Hua）　　1960年4月出生，曾经从事过5年的牙医工作，1983年开始写作，至今已经出版长篇小说5部，中短篇小说集6部，随笔集5部，主要作品有 《活着》、《许三观卖血记》、《在细雨中呼喊》、《兄弟》、《第七天》、《十个词汇里的中国》、《黄昏里的男孩》、《往事与刑罚》等。其作品被翻译成30 种语言在美国、英国、澳大利亚、法国、德国、意大利、西班牙等30多个国家出版。曾获意大利格林扎纳·卡佛文学奖Premio Grinzane Cavour（1998年），法国文学和艺术骑士勋章CHEVALIER DE L’ ORDRE DES ARTS ET DES LETTRES（2004年）法国国际信使外国小说奖Prix Courrier International（2008年），意大利朱塞佩·阿切尔比国际文学奖GIUSEPPE ACERBI LITERARY INTERNATIONAL PRIZE（2014年）等。
