Yet not everyone can understand the meaning of a journey.” Agus put forth his statement during a discussion at the Makassar International Writers Festival on June 25, 2013. He was the speaker for the first session on the first day of the festival. He spoke about the relationship between poetry and photography. “Many things can be poetic and touching from a journey, just as long as we can find the meaning,” said the author of the books Titik Nol, Selimut Debu, and Garis Batas. Tempo (2013): Cerita Penulis dari Timur (Makassar International Writers Festival 2013)

Makassar Rabu, 26 Juni 2013 Koran Tempo Cerita Penulis dari Timur Mereka membawa angin segar kepada dunia sastra. Di antara 50-an penulis yang mengirimkan karyanya ke Makassar International Writers Festival (MIWF) 2013, tersebutlah enam penulis dari Indonesia bagian timur yang menyodorkan hal baru dalam karya-karyanya. “Kesegaran, kebaruan, dengan warna lokal yang khas dalam karyanya,” kata Aslan, koordinator kurator. Mereka adalah Mario F. Lawi (Kupang), Christian Dicky Senda (Kupang), Amanche Franck O.E. Ninu (Kupang), Muhary Wahyu Nurba (Makassar), Mariati Atkah (Makassar), dan Jamil Massa (Gorontalo). Sejalan dengan tema MIWF kali ini, yakni “My City My Literature”, di Fort Rotterdam Makassar, 25-29 Juni 2013, menurut Aslan, mereka bercerita tentang perkembangan kotanya melalui karya-karya sastra yang disajikan. “Saya akan bercerita tentang karya di mana saya sebagai anak pasar,” kata Muhary, yang ditemui di Gedung Kesenian Societeit de Harmonie, Makassar, Senin malam lalu. Sebagian ceritanya akan disajikan dalam bait-bait puisi yang dibacakan langsung oleh penulis dan penyair asal Makassar ini.
